Holiday Closing - Thanksgiving

Frederick County Public Libraries will close at 5pm on Wednesday, November 27 and will remain closed on Thursday November 28, and Friday November 29, 2024 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Celebrate the 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse with the library! Enjoy a special space-themed storytime and explore outer space through activities and crafts. All are welcome to join us for our viewing party on the Urbana Library Plaza!

Schedule of Solar Eclipse Celebration:

10:15 a.m. - Outdoor Family Storytime @ Urbana Library Plaza: Out of this World!

11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Space themed crafts & activities

11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Solar Sing-Along (tweens & teens)

12 p.m. - 2 p.m. - Solar Eclipse Viewing Party @ Urbana Library Plaza

The October 14th, 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse will be a partial eclipse for most of North America except for a narrow path from Oregon to Texas and further south, where an annular (ring of fire) eclipse will be visible. It is never safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing. Learn more on the NASA website.
