The Jewish community split over their allegiances in the Civil War. Torn between strategies for assimilation into a new country, establishing their identity, and choosing sides in a state where both Union and Confederate were fully present. Retiring president of the Jewish Museum of Maryland, Marvin Pinkert, presents a little known side of the Civil War in Maryland. Co-sponsored by Maryland 400, the Frederick County Civil War Roundtable, and the Maryland Room, in memory of Rita and Paul Gordon.
