Join us at C. Burr Artz Library as we celebrate the release of local author Matt Lee’s hybrid memoir, The Backwards Hand.
This event is presented in partnership with Curious Iguana. Free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
About the book: The Backwards Hand interrogates what it means to be a cripple in a predominantly ableist society, deconstructing how perceptions of disability are—and are not—reflected in art and media.
About the author: Matt Lee is the author of a memoir, The Backwards Hand (Curbstone Books, 2024), and a novel, Crisis Actor (tragickal, 2020). His writing has been featured in Barrelhouse, X-R-A-Y, Bruiser, Always Crashing, and elsewhere. Lee is a founding editor of Ligeia Magazine. He has also written and produced numerous works for the stage. He lives in Maryland with his wife and son. Photo credit: Bailey Sterling-Lee.
