Braided Lives joins together the disciplines of film, poetry, song, documentary, history, literature, archaeology, storytelling, and oral history to provide an engaging and moving program.
The primary topic of Braided Lives is the lived experience of enslavement by the people owned by Catoctin Furnace as well as the larger experience of slavery in Maryland. The video brings to light this important and often neglected history while also illuminating the long reach that the institution of slavery has into the lives of Black Marylanders today.
