Joe Lubozynski will discuss the important dendrochronological analysis which has led to an entirely new context for interpreting the origin and significance of Beatty-Cramer. Of six known early timber frame buildings, this is the only one that survives, nearly intact. Clues found in the house also reveal how geometry was used for its design. During the Civil War thousands of troops "tramped back and forth through the fields" on the Cramer farm. Their presence might still be detected, in spite of the relic hunters.Co-sponsored by the Maryland Room.
