An Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR 55+) virtual program. Dementia 101 will provide a basic understanding of dementia. This class will define the term and discuss the difference between normal aging and dementia. We will also investigate the difference between reversible and irreversible forms of dementias and look at the risk factors. Then we'll discuss the process for diagnosing dementias and explore the symptoms of various forms of dementia. The third class in the series will explore the importance of understanding behaviors in dementia. This course is offered for free through the ILR Program and is made possible by the Shirley Cruickshank Wolfe Fund. To sign up, please go to frederick.edu/ILR and search for the course.  NOTE: Participants are asked to watch the film "What They Had" (2018, R) before the course begins. DVD copies are available to be checked out through FCPL, and the film can be streamed for free with a library card through Kanopy.com.
