Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) is pleased to announce that the highly acclaimed, bestselling author, Wes Moore will participate in a virtual program for their annual Frederick Reads event. This program is a collaborative effort between FCPL, Frederick Community College, and the Weinberg Center for the Arts. Moore's latest work, Five Days: The Fiery Reckoning of an American City, a kaleidoscopic account of five days in the life of a city on the edge, told through eight characters on the frontlines of the protests that overtook Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray.   Moore's free talks in Frederick County will also highlight his earlier New York Times Bestseller, The Other Wes Moore as well as its young Adult version Discovering Wes Moore. These titles chronicle the lives of two kids named Wes Moore who both grew up fatherless in similar Baltimore neighborhoods. The author's journey took him from wayward inner city youth to decorated combat veteran, Rhodes Scholar, White House fellow, social entrepreneur, and business leader while the other Wes Moore ended up convicted of murder and serving a life sentence. He will host two presentations via Zoom Webinar. You must sign up to receive the event link. Sign up closes at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19 for both events. Frederick Reads is a partnership between FCPL, Frederick Community College, and The Weinberg Center for the Arts.  This program is also supported by The C. Burr Artz Trust, The Ausherman Family Foundation, Frederick Arts Council, Delaplaine Foundation, Curious Iguana, and Plamondon Hospitality.
