Join AARCH and the FCPL Maryland Room for an introduction to the methodology and resources for finding African American ancestors. During this presentation learn tips and tricks applicable to African American family history research.  Damita Drayton Green is an independent historian and professional genealogist, studying African American life in the southern United States with a focus on women's empowerment and Reconstruction. She is doctoral student of history at Morgan State University and the owner of Yesteryear Perspectives, LLC, a historical research and consulting company. Ms. Green is a member of AARCH, working on the history committee.  Mary Mannix is the Maryland Room Manager of Frederick County Public Libraries, a position she has held since 1998. She teaches genealogy librarianship and archives at the University of Maryland iSchool.
