Virtual Program: A Primer on Plastics

Ever had an argument about what’s recyclable in your house? Or maybe wondered what really happens to your water bottle after you toss it in a blue bin? Plastics are by far the most complicated –and confusing– type of product packaging. (And don’t look at that symbol on the bottom of a container- it just might be lying to you!) In this program, Annmarie Creamer of the Frederick County Division of Solid Waste and Recycling will provide a general overview of this complex material, discussing what plastics are, how they are made, and why many of them cannot be easily recycled. This interactive program aims to answer all your questions, so participants are encouraged to bring specific items for “show and tell.”
