Purpose of Meeting

We are hoping to have a Wintertime inside space to continue promoting and holding the Baker Park community "Frederick Drum Circle".

Community drumming is an informal gathering of people who meet for the purpose of connecting to other humans, while releasing stress, and promoting healing by playing drums as a unified group. Mostly drums are played in circle, however, music may include flutes, didgeridoos, and other instruments. There usually is a facilitator who acts to shape the experience by helping to maintain a steady beat, or may help manage the environment to see that everyone is comfortable and able to participate.
Participants make up the music as they go along, using their listening and playing skills to make musical connections and express themselves. Music is entirely created by the process of group interaction.
Participation is voluntary and may include drumming, singing, chanting, dancing, or simply listening. Everyone is welcome to join. "Frederick Drum Circle"members bring extra instruments to share with those that may not own a drum.
